Day 0 - The Adventure Starts Here...

We are now in Accrington, in fact I am writing this post in the conference room of Accrington Stanley FC.

The last two days have been a bit of a media ‘fest’. yesterday we went along to ASDA to meet the Mayor and Mayoress of Havant and take pictures for the News (our local paper).

This morning Andy picked us up one by one in the minibus and took us up to college where we met up with a BBC South reporter. He filmed us chatting with our ambassador Alan Knight, riding around the car park and ‘leaving’ past a crowd of cheering supporters (i.e. friends, colleagues and family).

Apart from the odd interruption from the rain, all was going well at this point. We left a little after 11am to a great send off (thanks guys) and after picking up Phil, the last member of our party, we headed north in ernest. Deteriorating weather and surprisingly heavy traffic began to impair progress, then just past Warwick services everything came to a virtual standstill. An accident had blocked one lane and given the conditions and weight of traffic this caused a huge tailback. It may have taken us a good hour  (to be honest I was having a crafty 40 winks so I kind of lost track of time) to get through this and consequently we were behind schedule.

                             

We eventually arrived here at a damp Accrington around 7.30 and after unloading the gear  went into the local pub for a pint and a pizza courtesy of the football club. The others have all now retired leaving me to post this blog. Its very quiet. Up at 7am tomorrow apparently...
