Tentative Training

Our first training ride this morning, now that Mike and Andy have now got their sexy new bikes. We met up in Cosham at 7am (we being Andy, Duncan and Mike) and set off on a circuit of Portsea Island, riding on the cycle way around Tipner lake, through Stamshaw, past the dockyard and down to Old Portsmouth.

After a quick team photo (taken buy Julia, along for the ride) we rode along the seafront to Eastney and then back up the eastern side of the Island. A round trip totalling 16 miles, completed in 1hr 40mins. A nice gental ride to help the boys get used to their bikes. The verdict? "Easy!". But then Portsmouth isn't exactly hilly. Now Lancashire, that's a different story...

Reviewing Progress

Well it seems that things are starting to move now. We have a definitive list of clubs and we have the overall route planned, although we are still working on the details. At present the distance looks like being some 500 miles plus, meaning that we will need to average around 40-50 miles a day to complete the trip within the available time. Better start training lads, get cracking!
